The New TPA with Deep Roots, Fresh Vision, and a Smarter Tech Stack

There’s a new TPA in town—but don’t let the word “new” fool you.

Carter and Jim Lynch

Helix Benefit Solutions is built on decades of industry experience. Founder Jim Lynch helped shape the early days of CDH, led one of the first TPAs to adopt debit card technology, and drove innovation through multiple industry-defining acquisitions. His son, Carter Lynch, also brings firsthand industry experience—including time in sales at Elevate—paired with a new generation’s energy and modern expectations.

Together, and backed by Elevate’s powerful technology, they’re launching something different.

Why Start Fresh?

Jim spent five years out of the day-to-day advising other organizations (including a position on Elevate's board) but was ready to get back in the game. He faced options: buy into an established TPA or build something better. He chose better.

“Most of the TPAs out there are still running on old tech,” Jim said. “I’d have to replace everything just to make it work the way it needs it to work in today's environment, not to mention being prepared for what's coming tomorrow.”

Instead of retrofitting dated systems, Helix is starting from scratch—with technology, leadership, and mindset all intentionally selected to meet modern standards.

A Partnership That Sets the Standard

From day one, Helix partnered with Elevate to power its benefits platform. That decision wasn’t incidental—it was strategic.

“We didn’t want to build around manual processes,” Carter said. “We wanted automation. Real-time feedback. Claims that pay out same-day. That’s what Elevate delivers.”

Helix is using Elevate’s platform as the backend tech solution for its HSAs, FSAs, HRAs, and commuter benefits. With Elevate, Helix can launch plans in minutes instead of weeks, eliminate paper claim forms, and give members instant claims approvals and payments. The platform also supports modern plan designs, including HRAs with automated deductible tracking, and provides the scalability needed to serve both 50-life groups and large enterprise clients.

“We're bringing the change that the industry has been demanding. Brokers typically see a demo and immediately say, ‘You’re not on the same two platforms that we see all the time, are you?’” Jim said. “That tells you everything.”

Solving the Real Pain Points

Helix isn’t just rethinking operations. They’re focused on the real frustrations that brokers, employers, and members face:

  • Delayed claims and unclear status updates
  • Manual processes and paper forms
  • Offshored customer service
  • Fragmented systems and data silos

With Elevate’s modern architecture and Helix’s operational insight, those pain points are replaced by:

  • Real-time communication
  • Centralized, intuitive account management
  • Flexible APIs for better integrations
  • Scalable solutions that fit both small and large groups

Built for the Future

Helix is built for the long run, not for a quick flip.

Carter brings in-the-field experience from his time at Elevate and is focused on growing Helix through strong broker partnerships and new business development. Jim offers strategic oversight and makes sure every foundational choice—from talent to tech—is made with the long-term in mind.

“This industry isn’t standing still,” Carter said. “Carriers are moving to APIs. Brokers expect automation. Members expect ease. And we’re building around all of that.”

The Best of Both Generations

What makes Helix special isn’t just the modern tech stack or startup speed. It’s the pairing of deep experience with a fresh perspective.

“We’ve got the next generation building relationships with today’s decision makers,” Jim said. “And we’ve got the infrastructure in place to scale it the right way.”

Helix isn’t trying to be the biggest. They’re aiming to be the best. And by partnering with Elevate, they’re already setting a new bar for what’s possible in benefits administration. See more at Helix Benefit Solutions.
